"Though the British tortured enemy captives during the American Revolution, Gen. George Washington would not do it, thereby distinguishing this country by its humanity."

"What is this thing called 'Christianity' in this country, Lord Jesus? Does it have anything to do with you? It seems a strangely Americanized thing, a disastrously domesticated faith toward which people can nod their heads in loyalty as long as it doesn’t conflict with their full participation in whatever this country feels like it wants to do."

13th Amendment Issue - Mandatory Volunteerism

13th Amendment Issue - Mandatory Volunteerism

"Mandatory national service, which would require young people to do government-mandated work...is pretty clearly involuntary servitude under any reasonable definition of the word,"

—Ilya Somin, Assistant Professor at George Mason University School of Law
Somin on Mandatory National Service 01/23/2009

"Charities and nonprofits ....across the country provide needed services to Americans in a way that government never could. The Democrat-led Conference Committee made a mistake in striking my common sense, bipartisan amendment. ...People do not donate to charities for a tax break, but reducing the deduction will certainly decrease the amount of money available to the charities, nonprofits, and religious organizations that are doing such great work in the face of economic hardship. The Democrat leadership in Congress has prepared a budget that clearly sends the wrong message to those who serve individuals in need, and to those who rely on charitable giving."

The Mojave Desert Cross "... right now is covered in plywood, so no one can see it...it's our hope that we can get a victory here and the plywood will be removed, and we can get back to honoring our veterans..."

Kelly Shackelford, Chief Counsel of the Liberty Legal Institute

2009  "The Supreme Court announced today that it will hear the case regarding the Mojave Desert Cross ... In...2008, Liberty Legal Institute filed an amicus brief asking for certiorari on behalf of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW), The American Legion, the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH), Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of California, and American Ex-Prisoners of War (AXPOW).

The VFW erected the memorial and originally owned the land on which the memorial sits, and had donated it to the government in 1934. The ACLU sued for removal of the veterans' memorial on the grounds that it is unconstitutional, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals agreed and ordered the memorial and cross dismantled. ... The fate of the Mojave Desert Cross is just one of the trends of hostility toward veterans' memorials."

"... The First Amendment...says Congress shall pass no law ‘prohibiting the free exercise’ of religion. The cross is an important symbol to millions of veterans, some of whom had to make the ultimate sacrifice for this nation. ...Today’s lawyers and judges are outlawing the values and religious symbols that the Founding Fathers revered and proclaimed as the very foundation of the American republic...Today it’s a memorial. Tomorrow, these same judges can order the removal of crosses on veterans gravestones, the dismissal of military chaplains and the closure of base chapels.”

"In the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial Case, a solitary cross, erected on a rock outcrop 11 miles off the road in the desert  by veterans in 1934 to honor World War I veterans, has been declared to be an unconstitutional violation of the Establishment Clause because in 1994 it was incorporated into the Mojave Desert Preserve.

Although Congress passed legislation originally sponsored by Rep. Jerry Lewis, my Representative in California, to transfer the one-acre Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial to private parties, veterans, in exchange for five acres of private land, the Federal judge, on motion of the ACLU, nullified the act of Congress, finding its action violates the Establishment Clause, and ordered the Executive Branch to tear down the  Cross. That case is on appeal. ...and all veterans' memorials -- deserve to be defended, and The American Legion is ready and able to do so."

“The agenda of one person claiming to be ‘offended’ shouldn’t diminish the sacrifice made by America’s veterans and their families ... Crosses on veterans’ memorials have been under attack, despite claims to the contrary by the ACLU and others.  One only needs to look to what’s happened with the memorials at Mt. "Many of our fallen war heroes have been honored with individual plaques displayed at the foot of the Mt. Soledad memorial cross. And yet, in bitter irony, the very freedoms that these veterans died to protect are being perverted by the ACLU and used to deprive them and their grieving friends, families and comrades the honor and solace they deserve.”

"...The secularist jihad, led by ACLU mullahs, will stop at nothing to expunge this nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage, and to prevent the government from paying tribute to the Christians who died defending America. What next, What about all of those crosses on federal land in veterans cemeteries, here and abroad? Doesn’t this constitute  government endorsement of religion as well? ... Compare the number of Christians who died fighting for America to the number of ACLU lawyers who were killed in their country’s service. No comparison..."

"The flag folding ceremony represents the same religious principles on which our great country was originally founded."

*The second fold is a symbol of our belief in the eternal life.

*The fourth fold represents our weaker nature; for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace, as well as in times of war, for His divine guidance.

*The eleventh fold, in the eyes of Hebrew citizens, represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies, in their eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

*The twelfth fold, in the eyes of a Christian citizen, represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in their eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost.

"Principled leaking has changed the course of history for the better; it can alter the course of history in the present; it can lead us to a better future...The power of principled leaking to embarrass governments, corporations and institutions is amply demonstrated through recent history. The public scrutiny of otherwise unaccountable and secretive institutions forces them to consider the ethical implications of their actions. Which official will chance a secret, corrupt transaction when the public is likely to find out?

What repressive plan will be carried out when it is revealed to the citizenry, not just of its own country, but the world? When the risks of embarrassment and discovery increase, the tables are turned against conspiracy, corruption, exploitation and oppression. Open government answers injustice rather than causing it. Open government exposes and undoes corruption. Open governance is the most effective method of promoting good governance.

Today, with authoritarian governments in power around much of the world, increasing authoritarian tendencies in democratic governments, and increasing amounts of power vested in unaccountable corporations, the need for openness and transparency is greater than ever.

Ron Paul on the 13th Amendment - Involuntary Servitude...the Draft

Ron Paul on the 13th Amendment - Involuntary Servitude...the Draft

"...there are troubling signs that national service could transition from voluntary to mandatory, or de facto mandatory ... Involuntary servitude was supposed to be abolished by the 13th Amendment..."

Ron Paul, United States Congressman, and physician, February 2009

On Reinstating the Draft By Ron Paul

Much has been made by the new administration of the idea of national service and volunteerism. While service to one’s community is certainly admirable, it is not the federal government’s place to “encourage” or promote volunteerism. Moreover, there are troubling signs that national service could transition from voluntary to mandatory, or de facto mandatory, such as the requirement of service in order to be granted a diploma, or something along those lines.

Involuntary servitude was supposed to be abolished by the 13th Amendment, but things like Selective Service and the income tax make me wonder how serious we really are in defending just basic freedom. The income tax enslaves workers for nearly 4 months out of a year by garnishing what amounts to all their wages in that period of time. A military draft could demand your very life, without your consent. This should be unthinkable in a free society.

Proponents of reinstating the draft claim it is needed to protect liberty from enemies abroad. But what about the enemies of liberty right here at home? I am convinced that there are more threats to American liberty within the 10 mile radius of my office on Capitol Hill than there are on the rest of the globe. If we would get our troops off of foreign soil, those perceived enemies of our liberty abroad are much more likely to stand down and let us be. We have more than enough troops to mind our own business and defend ourselves. It is only for world domination that we have a troop shortage.

Nevertheless, some think recruiting for our military is too low and that the younger generation will not answer the call of duty willingly, and must be drafted by force. I take extreme exception to this characterization of young people today.First of all, I believe they correctly see that foreign policy, as unpopular as it has been under Bush, is not significantly changing under Obama, and has little, if anything, to do with defending the United States, and certainly not the Constitution. Second, many see friends and acquaintances who have voluntarily enlisted, and have taken note of how the soldier, the veteran is treated. Perhaps rather than blaming younger generations for being selfish, older generations should remember their promises to those who volunteer for military service and be mindful of how they are treated. Every homeless vet by the side of the road, every suicide, every report of substandard conditions in veteran hospitals is a sign of how we let our military down. Perhaps we should look to those issues if we have problems with military recruitment, rather than to trample freedom in the name of protecting it.

If that is not enough reason, consider that most in the military are against a draft. There is a vast difference between serving alongside another volunteer, and serving alongside a reluctant conscript. Americans need to be on the lookout for any propaganda trying to ease us back into the draft. Too often a flawed foreign policy prompts the need for a draft. Abolishing the Selective Service is one thing we could do to counter those efforts.

"With the increased need for more troops for the administration’s expanded military adventurism in Afghanistan, as well as the continuing movement to conscript young people not eligible for military service to serve the government at home, can anyone doubt that this bill [ HR 1388 - National Service ] is only the down payment on a much larger program of mandatory national service?"

"... the philosophy which inspired America’s founders, expressed in the Declaration of Independence, is that individuals possess natural, God-given rights which cannot be abridged by the government. Of course it should, but an elastically interpreted 'living Constitution' makes all sorts of public schemes safe from legal reproach."

"Our nation does have a problem with recruitment and retention -- reasons often cited for keeping the draft registration. United States Department of Justice Say NO to Lawsuits Until President Obama's
Administration Rewrites Freedom of Information Act Guidelines

"We are shocked and deeply disappointed that the Justice Department has chosen to continue the Bush administration's practice of dodging judicial scrutiny of extraordinary rendition and torture. This was an opportunity for the new administration to act on its condemnation of torture and rendition, but instead it has chosen to stay the course. Now we must hope that the court will assert its independence by rejecting the government's false claims of state secrets and allowing the victims of torture and rendition their day in court."

—Ben Wizner, staff attorney with American Civil Liberties Union

"I like to think of the Freedom of Information Act as democracy’s x-ray machine, because it gives us an inside look at the internal machinery of government so we can identify the waste, fraud, abuse and corruption that leave our nation dangerously weak, inefficient, and ineffective. Unfortunately the x-ray machine is not working as well as it should, and important information about the health of our democracy is being hidden from view."

Concerns Raised About Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

Concerns Raised About Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA)  "...raises serious concerns about citizens' civil liberties and privacy rights..."

"The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) is withholding hundreds of documents about a secret intellectual property enforcement treaty currently under negotiation between the U.S. and more than a dozen other countries. In a pending federal lawsuit,

the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Public Knowledge are demanding that background documents on the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA) be released under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). But the USTR has claimed that more than 1300 pages should be withheld because they implicate national security or expose the USTR's deliberative processes. The USTR has released only 159 pages for public viewing.

ACTA raises serious concerns about citizens' civil liberties and privacy rights. The contents and text of ACTA remain secret, but a document leaked to the public last year shows that ACTA could include stronger criminal measures, increased customs border search powers, and requirements for Internet service providers to cooperate with copyright holders.

Some public suggestions from content companies have included requiring ISPs to engage in filtering of their customers' Internet communications for potentially copyright-infringing material, mandatory disclosure of personal information about alleged copyright infringers, and adoption of 'Three Strikes' policies requiring ISPs to automatically terminate customers' Internet access upon a repeat allegation of copyright infringement."

"ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement being negotiated by the US, the EU, Japan, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand. The stated goal of the agreement is the international enforcement of strong intellectual property rights through increased cooperation and coordination among international governmental agencies."

How Not To Volunteer For The Draft/National Service

Instructions How Not To Volunteer For The Draft Or National Service

This gives detailed instructions how Not to volunteer for the draft or 'national service.'

    Tricking you
is another way the Government gets around that pesky 13th Amendment, so that there's no forced slavery, involuntary servitude nor any Constitutional problems.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RUN TO CANADA OR DODGE THE DRAFT IN ANY WAY.

    ALL YOU NEED DO IS
    JUST REFUSE TO VOLUNTEER
    :

    1. Young Mr. 'A' receives a "draft notice" and is told to report on a certain date to a certain place where he receives his physical and mental tests... then he is classified with a number indicating whether he is 1A (first called)... all the way down to 4F (unfit for duty).

    2. Mr. 'A' is told that he is to report to an "induction center" at a certain location for the purpose of entering the military on a date specified.

    3. By so-called 'law' he must appear there...or a warrant for his arrest will be issued.

    4. Assuming he reports as directed he will have another brief physical, tests, hear 'welcome' speeches flattering his patriotism or other things to distract him from the near-invisible trap they have laid for him, which starts with, "...
everyone line up behind/in front of/on the yellow line
    ...,"  (painted on the floor).

    5. A recruiting officer will then tell all those "joining the army" (or whatever) to take one step forward.      REFUSE TO DO THIS !!!!!
(those dumb enough to have done this have JUST "VOLUNTEERED!") This is done so that no one can legally claim they were forced into involuntary servitude in violation of their Constitutional Rights.

"RAISE YOUR RIGHT HAND AND SWEAR......blah, blah, blah...." (almost everyone does!... thinking it must be REQUIRED!):

"I, (sucker's name) do solemnly swear that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America and will defend it against all enemies foreign and domestic and will obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over me, so help me God."
    REFUSE TO DO THIS !!!!!

    6. Those who stepped forward and/or swore an oath cannot now claim they were drafted against their wills and seek protection under the 13th Amendment.  They stepped forward voluntarily and took the Oath "voluntarily"
    !

    7. Assume Mr. 'B' was smarter than Mr. 'A' and HE DID NOT STEP FORWARD AND THEREFORE DID NOT TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE. (the recruiter will probably say something like this: "What's the matter with you! Don't you know what' step forward' means?!!"

Mr. B responds, "Sure I do, but I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY NOR IN ANY OTHER SERVICE TO THE GOVERNMENT.
If you want me, you must take me against my will by force!"

    8. All of those who "volunteered" will now be excused from the room... and Mr. 'B' will be cajoled with persuasive arguments... at first... then, when nothing works to change his mind he will be called names and insulted, possibly even assaulted by one or more military people present there as witnesses.

    9. IF Mr. 'B' does not weaken, stands his ground, eventually the tormentors will give up and have him arrested on some charge. However, there is NO lawful way that they can MAKE him go into the military
, because of the Constitutional prohibition against involuntary servitude in the 13th Amendment, which is why NO ONE IS TRULY EVER "DRAFTED" AND MUST BE "TRICKED " INTO VOLUNTEERING!

    D. R. Graham Ret. Sci. Instr. & Ret. Mil. Officer

    *****************************************************************

    Repeat

    7. Assume Mr. 'B' was smarter than Mr. 'A' and HE DID NOT STEP FORWARD AND THEREFORE DID NOT TAKE THE OATH OF ALLEGIANCE. (the recruiter will probably say something like this:  "What's the matter with you! Don't you know what 'Step forward'  means?!!"

Mr. B responds, "Sure I do, but I AM NOT VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY OR IN THE GOVERNMENT IN ANY WAY. If you want me, you must take me against my will by force!"

    8. All of those who "volunteered" will now be excused from the room. Mr. 'B' will then be cajoled with persuasive arguments... at first... then, when nothing works to change his mind he will be insulted, threatened with a long prison term, called names and maybe even beaten by the 'true patriots' in military uniforms gathered around him like vultures. But you must stand fast and not give in.
A few hours' hassle is better to endure than death in the dirt of a filthy tin-pot dictatorship that refuses financial exploitation by the Western Cartel.

After you can get a word in edgewise, ask the morons, "Am I free to go?"

If the recruiter says "Yes," then leave immediately at high speed. If the recruiter says, "No," then ask, "By what authority do you, a military officer, order me, a civilian
?" If the recruiter says anything else, repeat the question until you get a Yes or a No.

If the recruiter says, "I order you by the authority of the United States Government," then ask, "Which clause of the Constitution gives you, a military officer, to order me, a civilian
    ?"

Ask AGAIN: "Am I free to go?" If the recruiter says, "Yes," then obviously leave.

If the recruiter says, "No," then say, "Am I under arrest? Am I your prisoner? Am I kidnapped? If I'm not free, then what exactly am I?" Keep asking these same questions again and again until you get an answer. Badger them; after all, they just badgered you.

Another thing to say is, "I want an attorney." Tell them that since they won't let you go, they are violating your Constitutional Rights and you insist on an attorney to charge them individually with kidnapping and false imprisonment. Tell them that you are going to sue them personally, taking their homes, cars, other personal property and most of all their future paychecks to pay off the millions of dollars awarded by a jury that hates the government (80% of citizens). Tell them that will be necessary because the federal government will disown them, as usual
, saying they exceeded their duties and exceeded their authority, thus the government is (once again) not liable. This ALWAYS works because everyone knows it's true.

After asking, "Am I free to go?" several times without him/them answering you, say, "Well I must be free to go, because I asked you three times and you don't say that I'm not free to go." Then slowly turn around and leave. If he/they keep trying to interact with you, keep walking away. If they touch you, call the police and have him/them arrested for battery minimum, perhaps also kidnapping and false imprisonment. It might even make a class-action suit if you can get enough active duty members to swear they were tricked into serving the Western Cartel/USA/NWO. Chances are good that juries who already hate the government would delight in nailing them for millions of bucks.

Here's an excerpt from a book:

The Army induction officer instructed the draftees to "take one step forward" as their names were called, and said that step would signify their induction into the Army. When reluctant Willie's name was called, he answered present, but did not step forward. After the ceremony, he went home instead of to camp.

When the MP's came for him, he went to court for a Writ of Habeas Corpus to retain his freedom.

"The officer himself," Willie argued, "said the step forward is what would make me a soldier. As I didn't take the step, I'm still a civilian and the Army has no claim on me
    ."

Counsel for the Army replied, "The Army isn't being run by childish games. Willie and a hundred others appeared to be inducted, and he was inducted before the whole group as any fool there could plainly see."

    Willie retained his civilian status
. The court ruled that the draft law required some definite ceremony to transform a civilian into a soldier. As the Army decided to have one step forward constitute the ceremony, and Willie didn't take the step, he wasn't a soldier.  (U. S. Court of Appeals, 1954)

P.S.  If your relatives or friends think all the above is wrong or unpatriotic, ask them if they, too, would join the "U.S. military," then accept a blue beret, U.N armpatches, and report to a foreign commander and follow foreigners' orders to help in the trafficking of 12 year-old sex slaves. This is what the U.N. 'peace-keeping forces' are infamous for.

Have them Google "Michael New," and THEN tell you how wrong you are in avoiding the draft into the New World Order.

Remember, you are never a patriot in bowing down to tyranny in any form, but you are always a patriot when insisting that the U.S. Constitution prevail.
